City Harvest London

City Harvest’s work shows that a healthier food future starts with how we value surplus food: not as waste, but as a resource that can nourish communities and protect the planet.

Every day, City Harvest rescues nutritious surplus food from farms, manufacturers, wholesalers and retailers, and delivers it, free of charge, to organisations supporting people facing food poverty across London. By redistributing food that would otherwise go to waste, we help food and drink businesses reduce their environmental impact while ensuring good food reaches those who need it most.

City Harvest currently provides food for over 1.2 million meals every month, supporting hundreds of charities and community partners, including food banks, homeless shelters, schools, community kitchens, family centres and domestic abuse refuges. Our drivers and vans are the connective tissue in this system, linking surplus from the food industry to grassroots organisations on the frontline of the cost of living crisis.

As the sector looks ahead to the next 25 years, City Harvest stands ready to partner with producers, manufacturers, wholesalers and retailers who want to embed health, sustainability and social value into their operations. By working together, Britain’s food and drink industry can help make the next quarter-century healthier than the last.
